The definition of band is a group of musicians who make music together, and by joining 6th grade band, you get the chance to do just that! In 6th grade Beginning Band, you’ll have the opportunity to pick a new instrument and learn it while gaining new skills and friends! The best part is, you don’t have to know how to read music or play the instrument when you join!! Starting from the first week of school, you’ll learn the basics of music and your instrument that will help you continue as a musician as you go through middle and high school. You’ll get to choose between several instruments, including : Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion. Once the school year starts, you’ll be placed in a class with other students that play your instrument so that you can learn together. Throughout the year, we will get to participate in several concerts, a concert, and a field trip where all of the classes will combine and play together! Your classes will be taught by one or more of the band directors who play your instrument and want to support you and help you grow.
